Weightloss

Struggling to lose weight with conventional weight loss methods?

Are you finding it hard to manage hunger levels?

Have you found that you are resistant to multiple diets?

What is GLP for weightloss?

GLP commonly refers to a “glucagon like peptide”.  GLP-1 is a naturally occurring hormone made in the gut that helps regulate blood sugar and appetite. GLP-1 is the basis for  GLP 1 receptor agonist medications that mimic this hormone.

GLP1/GIP is a dual action medication working on two hormone receptors and is sometimes referred to as GLP-1 Plus.

Many ongoing clinical studies have shown that GLP’s reduced appetite, improved food intake regulation, and reduced food cravings in addition to improving glycemic control. The greatest weight loss benefits were observed when used in combination with B12 and with lifestyle changes including a healthy diet and strength training.

Are there any side effects?

The common side effects can include:

Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Stomach pain
Constipation

How often do I need to take the medication?

Injections are done once weekly. Generally patients take medication home to inject themselves with monthly check- ins to monitor progress, dosage, diet, side effects, etc

How Much Weight Can I Lose?

Typically patients lose 5-10 lbs per month

No two patients are the same and results may vary. Patients should know that GLPs are a tool for weight loss. Incorporating proper diet, exercise, and water intake, among other healthy habits is imperative for a successful weight loss journey.

Please be advised, for those needing to lose an excess of 30 pounds a weight loss plan will need to consist of a longer course of  GLPs  Rapid weight loss will not be sustainable and is not healthy. Our staff will help you to formulate a plan to achieve your goals and maintain your results.

What would disqualify me from using GLP’s for weight loss?

If you have any of the following health scenarios, this may not be the program for you:

Diabetic retinopathy
Type 1 Diabetic
Low blood sugar
Eating disorder
Acute inflammation of the pancreas
Decreased kidney function
Medullary thyroid cancer
Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2
Family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma
Kidney disease

The Process

If you are interested in medical weight loss, an initial consultation is required in order to determine if it is right for you.  If you have lab results from  your physician from a physical (within the past 6 months) you may provide those results for review.  If you need labs to be cleared for the start of the program we will provide you with a lab slip- generally your lab tests are covered by your health insurance plan.  After having the initial consultation and being medically cleared you can receive your first injection. Then, every week, you will return for an assessment where we will check your weight, side effects, and general well being in relation to  GLP use.   Everyone’s results are different and we cannot guarantee weight loss. Results are best when combined with a healthy, protein rich, balanced diet and regular exercise. To follow this plan is a commitment. Once a client has reached their goal weight, we slowly wean them down to a maintenance dose or microdose.  Often, our clients are able to maintain their goal weight once achieved when the client continues a healthy balanced diet and exercise.

What about my BMI?

If your BMI is below 25, we do not recommend GLP use
